Cascina Ghercina - Rosso Dedicato

50% Barbera, 30% Nebbiolo, 20% Dolcetto
An intense ruby-red colour. The nose offers rich, fruity aromas of small black berries, complemented by hints of spice and vanilla. The palate is lush and well-balanced, with soft, sweet tannins. Round and smooth in the mouth, with a long, silky finish.

Estate
Cascina Ghercina was established in 1871. Over the generations, the estate has remained true to its mission: to cultivate only its own vineyards, with an unwavering focus on quality. In 2002, the family acquired an additional 8 hectares of vineyards, located on south-west facing slopes in the heart of the Barolo region. Situated 360 metres above sea level, the nearby 'Ghercina' river creates a unique microclimate between the vineyards. In the same year, they constructed 5,000 m² of partially underground cellars, increasing storage capacity to over 15,000 hectolitres. The estate also owns vineyards in Langhe, Alba, Roero, Asti, Monferrato and Gavi.

Soil
The vines are planted in predominantly rocky, marl and limestone soils with a sandy subsoil.

Aspect
All vineyards are located in the "Langhe" region of Piedmont.

Harvest
Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, with strict selection procedures.

Vinification
The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts for 8 days, with daily pump-overs of the must. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barriques, followed by further refinement in bottle.

Food pairing
An excellent match with pasta Carbonara, red meats and grilled dishes.
